Introduction of the Program/Syllabus:

Social Work is a professional course learnt to extend professional help to the humanity and the ultimate mission is to uphold social justice. This could be possible by initiating social change, problem solving and strengthening human relationships, empowerment and liberation of people and to augment their well-being. Human rights and social values are fundamental to social work. It bases its methodology on a systematic body of evidence-based knowledge derived from research practice and evaluation.

Objectives of the Program:

  • The major thrust is to introduce the concept of social work, primary and secondary methods, basics of other social sciences which supports the social work curriculum.
  • Field work has been classified into two types such as observation visits and concurrent field work. In the observational field work the students are exposed to different development organizations in order to have a better understanding about its objectives, functioning and interventions.
  • In the concurrent field work students are placed in various field settings to provide a opportunities to practice the basic methods of social work and to improve their professional skills.
  • Students from Palani, Udumalpet, Oddanchatram, Dharapuram can benefit

  • UNITIZATION:

    Each paper contains 5 units. Not only core subjects, but also all the subjects

  • PATTERN OF SEMESTER EXAMINATION

    A candidate has to prepare mathematical and theoretical answers for both the questions and covering the parts.

    Theory Subjects
    Total : 100Marks(Internal: 25 Marks, External: 75 Marks)

    Practical Subjects
    Total : 100marks(Internal: 25 marks, External: 75 Marks)

  • RE-TOTALING AND REVALUATION PROVISION

    Candidates may apply for revaluation for the paper which was already evaluated, within 15 days from the date of publication of the result in the university website, through specified revaluation forms along with required fees.

  • PROJECT

    The combined project shall be undertaken by the students as a team of two.

    Total : 100marks(Internal: 25 marks, External: 75 Marks)

  • PASSING MINIMUM

    The passing minimum is 40% (External minimum is 27 out of 75; No minimum for internal, but External + Internal should be at least 40)

  • SCHEME OF EVALUATION

    The performance of a student in each course is evaluated in terms of percentage of marks with a provision for conversion to grade points.

  • TRANSITORY PROVISION

    The candidates of previous syllabus scheme may be permitted to write exams in their own schemes up to the examinations of April 2020 as a transitory provision.
