Introduction of the Program:

The Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) programme is designed to provide students with strong foundations in computer science, software development, programming languages, database management, networking, and web technologies. The course prepares students to meet the growing demand for skilled IT professionals and software developers in the modern digital world.

Objectives of the Program:

  • To develop strong programming and problem-solving skills among students.
  • To provide knowledge in software development, database management, and networking.
  • To expose students to modern computer applications and emerging technologies.
  • To prepare students for higher studies and careers in the IT industry.
  • Students from Palani, Udumalpet, Oddanchatram, Dharapuram and nearby regions can benefit from this programme.

Outcome of the Program:

Upon successful completion of the programme, students will be able to design and develop software applications, manage databases, create web applications, and apply computing knowledge to solve real-world problems. The programme also prepares students for higher education such as MCA, MBA, and other professional IT certifications.

UNITIZATION

Each subject contains five units which are interrelated to provide both theoretical and practical understanding.

PATTERN OF SEMESTER EXAM

Theory Subject Total Marks: 100 (Internal: 25 Marks, External: 75 Marks)
Practical Subject Total Marks: 100 (Internal: 40 Marks, External: 60 Marks)

SCHEME OF EVALUATION

The performance of a student in each course is evaluated based on internal assessments, assignments, practical examinations, and semester-end examinations.

TRANSITORY PROVISION

A transitory provision of three years is available for students under the old syllabus to complete their programme.

EXTERNAL EXAM

Students must secure a minimum of 75% attendance in each course to appear for university examinations. Candidates who fail in any subject may reappear in subsequent examinations as per university regulations.

PASSING MINIMUM

The passing minimum is 40% (External minimum is 27 out of 75; External + Internal should be at least 40).

RE-TOTALING AND REVALUATION PROVISION

Candidates may apply for revaluation or retotaling within the stipulated time from the date of publication of results through the university prescribed procedure.
